Legislative Log

North Dakota lawmakers are looking at bills ranging from oil tax to paid family leave.
Starting at 9 a.m. this morning, lawmakers will host a hearing for raising state oil tax back to 6.5%. In 2015, the oil extraction tax was lowered to 5% but officials say the tax didn't need to be lowered after other adjustments were made to the tax.
Up next, House bill 1278 would permit sports betting in North Dakota. That bill is scheduled for 9:30 this morning.
House bill 1509 relates to paid family leave. Currently North Dakota does not provide paid leave for new families. They're expected to discuss the fiscal impact at 2:30 this afternoon.
And finally, House bill 1446 relates to proper labeling of e-cigarette liquid containers. Proper labeling would include ingredients and nicotine amount. That bill is scheduled for 2:30 this afternoon.
