BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Like mother, like daughter. And like father.

For one Bismarck family, the apple didn’t fall too far from the classroom.

Faith Reyes joined her parents, Andrew and Angela Fischer, as a Bismarck Public School teacher this fall.

Reyes is a first-year teacher, teaching third grade at Highland Acres Elementary School.

“All throughout my childhood, I loved playing teacher at home,” Reyes said.

Reyes said she dressed up as a teacher one Halloween as a child.

“I really do love teaching,” Reyes said.

Reyes’ mother, Angela Fischer, has taught for more than two decades.

“I taught first grade for about 15 years. And then I finally graduated the second grade,” Angela Fischer laughed.

Angela teaches second grade at Solheim Elementary School.

“I always wanted to be a teacher,” Angela said.

Angela said she wasn’t surprised her daughter became a teacher.

“She’s a natural-born teacher,” Angela said.

In that way, she’s a lot like her dad, Andrews Fischer. He teaches English at Bismarck High School.

Andrew said he didn’t expect his daughter to become a teacher. But watching her find her passion – one they now share – is a proud dad moment.

“What we’ve been doing for all this time, they’ve seen it and they’ve experienced it second hand and realized, I think, ‘I want to do that, too,’” Andrew said.

Reyes said teaching now dominates most family conversations.

“Which has been just incredible,” Reyes said.

Reyes has two younger brothers. One brother has decided not to become a teacher, while her youngest brother, who will graduate high school this spring, said it remains a possibility for him.
