Williams County closes purchase of fairgrounds

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - The Upper Missouri Fairgrounds north of Williston could see some big upgrades in the future. Williams County recently completed the purchase of the fairgrounds.

County Commissioners are approving contracts with the various organizations that use the property, which includes the Agri-sports complex building.

Commission Chairman Cory Hanson said the fair board will still manage the fair, but now the county will help with improving the property.

“It’s a great facility. The folks that have done it all these years, we really appreciate it. Hopefully, we can go to that next level and try to make it even more of a desirable place for the fair, but not only that, but year-round usage,” said Hanson.

Hanson said any major improvement projects would come down the line and doesn’t expect any significant changes with the fair this year.
