Williston Basin School District to turn middle school building to Pre-K center
WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - The Williston Basin School District is making more room for its growing Pre-K program.
Superintendent Jason Germundson said the ASB Center will be repurposed for a Pre-K center starting next school year.
Originally built as the Innovation Academy in 2020, the building currently houses middle school students.
The move comes as the district reconfigures its class locations in anticipation of the new Sloulin Elementary opening.
The district has about 60 Pre-K students this year, located in different buildings. There are around 100 more on a wait list.
“It will be perfect. There’s a lot of breakout rooms, so they can do their small group sessions, and if they get special services, they can come in and use those breakout rooms. It’s a great design for our little ones,” said District Pre-K Director Kenzi Brown.
The building will also support special-ed Pre-K students.
Brown said they are confident they will have the appropriate staffing needed to cover the expanded service.
