Summit Carbon Solutions looking at other options for pipeline route

BISMARCK, N.D. (KUMV) - Summit Carbon Solutions may be looking to move its carbon dioxide pipeline outside of the Dakotas.

In September, the company filed an amendment to its final order with the Iowa Utilities Commission.

The current text states that Summit can not build its pipeline until all approvals are made in North and South Dakota.

This year, South Dakota passed a bill banning eminent domain for carbon pipelines, creating a snag for the company.

Therefore, the company is asking the Iowa Utilities Commission to change the text, allowing them to possibly find a different route.
