WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - The Williston High School Band will go back to Washington, D.C. next year to perform in the Independence Day Parade, this time celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

It will be the third time Williston represents North Dakota at the nation’s capital.

They were first given a recommendation from then-governor Doug Burgum in 2019 and then became part of the events rotation for 2024 and 2026.

The parade takes place on Constitutional Avenue, playing within sight of the White House and the Washington Monument.

“Any opportunity I can give our students to be able to travel and represent the state in the best way that we can and represent Williston High School, I’m always going to jump at that,” said John Bisbee, Band Director.

The trip isn’t all about the parade, though. Band members will also take some time to tour D.C. and visit various sites.
