WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - This year, officials at the Williston Basin School District are considering it a transition period.
That’s because of the new school board members and administration. With students heading back to class, new Superintendent Jason Germundson said 2026 will be a major turning point for the district.
Next year, the district will apply boundary lines to give people an idea of which school their kid should go to.
Germundson said Williston was the last major school district to install boundaries.
He said the lines aren’t perfect, but will create a sense of neighborhood schools.
Next year also marks the opening of Sloulin Elementary, which Germundson said he hopes will curb overcrowding.
