XWA receives federal grant for snow removal equipment

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - Williston’s airport received more than a million dollars in federal grant dollars to keep the runways clear in the winter.

The funding will be used for a new multi-function snow removal vehicle. It has the capabilities of a snowplow and a sweeper.

Airport Director Anthony Dudas said these type of machines helps limit delays during winter weather.

“We want to make sure we’re meeting and keeping our facility at a really safe condition for all of those operators whether they be medevac flights or commercial operations,” said Dudas.

The federal grant covers about 95% of the cost.

The remaining amount will be split between the City of Williston and the state Aeronautics Commission.
