WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services says the measles outbreak in North Dakota is over. That means vaccine recommendations in Williams County will go back to normal.

With confirmed community spread back in May, the department recommended that infants six months or older should take an early dose of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, as well as the two typical shots later on at one year old and between ages four and six.

While there was a new case identified last week, officials say it’s related to out-of-state travel.

“The clock does not automatically reset with the identification of this new measles case,” said Jenny Galbraith, HHS adult immunization manager.

Health officials say the MMR vaccine is the best protection against the virus. More information can be found here.
