WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) – State health officials say a new case of measles was identified in Williams County on Thursday.

A spokesperson with the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services says the person is unvaccinated and contracted the virus through out-of-state travel.

This is the first case of measles in North Dakota since May 28.

The department says there have been 35 total cases in North Dakota in 2025, with two hospitalizations. All are unvaccinated.

The department recommends people stay up to date on their vaccinations, especially the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine.
