WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - The newly appointed member of the Williston City Commission sat down for his first meeting this week.

Lucas Gjovig was picked to replace former commissioner Tate Cymbaluk.

He’s a Williston native and the CEO of Go Wireline, an oilfield service company. Gjovig also served as the chairman of the city planning and zoning commission.

He said he applied for the position, wanting to step up in a new role.

“My goal as a Williston native, a father of six, and a business owner, is to continue to do what I can to support the community, its citizens, and make Williston a great place to live,” said Gjovig.

Gjovig will oversee the city’s public works, engineering and airport departments and will serve through next June.
