WATFORD CITY, N.D. (KUMV) - Fair season is underway in northwest North Dakota.

The McKenzie County Fair is marking its third year at the Ag Expo location.

This year, the fair is going through a Mardi Gras theme.

The carnival opened on Thursday and will be around through Saturday night.

Director Chris Kubal said the building has been very busy with livestock sales and shows.

He said they continue to improve attendance and showcase the building to the region.

“The last two years we’ve broke 12,500 people each. This year, we are expecting to break 13,500. For little McKenzie County, that’s a pretty good number,” said Kubal.

Meanwhile, the Divide County Fair starts Friday, and the Upper Missouri Valley Fair in Williston is next week.
