Judge dismisses case against man accused of impersonating ICE agent

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - A Northwest District Court judge dismissed a charge against a man who investigators had previously said claimed to be an ICE officer.
Shane Randall was arrested in February after law enforcement said he showed up at the Williams County Correctional Facility and claimed he was with ICE to pick up an inmate.
Williams County Sheriff Verlan Kvande said they detained the released inmate within an hour and a half of his release. Randall pleaded not guilty to the A-misdemeanor charge of impersonating law enforcement after his arrest.
Assistant State’s Attorney Nathan Madden told Judge Kirsten Sjue Friday that it would not be viable to move forward after further review.
Randall’s attorney said it was the right thing to do, stating it was a mistake caused by an assumption.
