Powers Lake flower shop hopes to add small-town charm
POWERS LAKE, N.D. (KMOT) - Some small-town business owners in our area are looking to add some beauty to your next party or special event.
In small communities like Powers Lake, citizens are close and often celebrate all of life’s ups and downs together.
“Everybody celebrates everything with everyone,” said Amy Schroeder.
Amy Schroeder and Nicole Jorstead decided to take one of their passions and add it to the community with the opening of Thistle Grove Floral.
“Our niche of where we fit in the community and how we can serve the community,” said Jorstead.
While Monday is the shop’s soft opening, the owners said they’ve already begun sharing their creations.
“We’ve been doing some prom and booked our first wedding,” said Schroeder.
Schroeder said the store is still on its way to completion, with a sign on the way and the addition of retail inventory soon.
Jorstead said they have faced challenges with their plants, as deliveries don’t come all the way to them.
Instead, they’re flown into Minot, and then a driver meets them near Stanley or Tioga.
“Delivery drivers, the couriers, give us an hour heads up with a phone call,” said Jorstead.
These co-owners said they’re hoping to offer more than the typical flower shop.
“Small town charm, personal touches, hopefully,” said Jorstead.
Thistle Grove Floral is now open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The owners say the best way to order is to call the store at (701)-464-4435 or stop in.
The store is located at 101 1st Ave E, next to the lumber yard in Powers Lake.
