BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A controversial bill looking to end daylight saving time in North Dakota is being tweaked to go into effect if other states follow.

Originally, the bill would have moved the state to permanent standard time, which is what we operate with in the winter hours.

One proposed amendment would turn it into a trigger law for permanent standard time if Minnesota, Montana and South Dakota vote to do the same. Another would allow the state to observe permanent Daylight Saving Time if the United States Government allows it and the three states do similarly.

The Senate State and Local Government Committee took no action.
