Construction affecting 2nd Avenue and 26th Street traffic in Williston starting next month
WILLISTON, N.D. (KFYR) - A major construction project affecting the Highway 2 and 26th Street West intersection will start next week.
The new design will have Highway 2 go through Williston Square and create a new intersection near the development. The existing area would become a T-intersection.
Reede Construction is handling the project. Officials said traffic will be impacted starting sometime next month. Most of the construction will be completed in October, with permanent striping finished next year.
Mayor Howard Klug said the project was a long-term goal of his and is well overdue.
“At the end, I think it’s going to benefit Williston immensely on traffic flow, just like the other projects that we’ve done here in town,” said Klug.
It’s expected to cost more than $23 million, shared between the NDDOT and the City of Williston.
