Minot’s Dakota Medical Center earns three-year accreditation, ensures quality care
MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Since its opening in the of fall last year, Dakota Medical’s surgical center in Minot has seen about a thousand patients walk through its doors.
The center was recently accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and earned its Medicare certification.
Medical director Dr. Aaron Albers said this means they can continue to provide patient-centered care at a cost-efficient level.
Albers said accreditors evaluated their surgical process from start to finish, closely looking at their policies and procedures.
Through the staff and community’s commitment, they were able to gain three years of accreditation, which is considered outstanding for a new facility.
Albers said typically, this organization only grants certification for up to a year.
“I had a patient get a quote for a surgical procedure that was $9,000. They called one of the local hospitals and they were quoted $30,000 for the same procedure,” said Albers.
He said they will soon welcome another orthopedist from Watford City to their team this spring.
