BISMARCK, N.D. (KUMV) - Williston State College was able to build a healthcare training center thanks to legislative support last session. This year, President Bernell Hirning said he wants funding to start it up.

At a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing Thursday, Hirning said he is seeking about $4.5 million, with a majority going towards startup costs and to repurpose existing spaces to better fit new programs. Lawmakers will hash out the numbers and discuss details with Hirning at another date.

Williston State College is set to start offering more healthcare programs this fall.

The healthcare training facility is expected to open by the end of the year.
