Williston mayor says 2024 a tough year, but plenty of wins
WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - Williston Mayor Howard Klug said 2024 had plenty of ups and downs for the city.
He said he was disappointed they didn’t get as many infrastructure projects started as he wanted due to a tight budget. However, Klug said there were many big wins, including the addition of more healthcare options through McKenzie Health and Sanford, the passage of the elementary school bond, and starting housing construction at Williston Square.
Next year, he’s excited to see a lot more larger projects get underway, including construction on 2nd Street West and 26th Street West as traffic moves into Williston Square.
“I’m looking forward to a very busy construction season. I’m looking forward to some other projects that we can do in the neighborhoods, like the water, sewer, and everything else,” said Klug.
Klug said he’s also hoping for more big-brand names to commit to Williston. He said he expects some progress soon on Pizza Ranch and Taco Bell, both highly requested and long-awaited establishments.
