WILLIAMS COUNTY, N.D. (KUMV) - Officials handling the Cerilon Gas-To-Liquids project in Williams County say they have received the last major permit prior to construction.

The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality issued a permit last week approving Cerilon’s handling of wastewater when dumping it into any body of water. Officials with Cerilon say all their treated water will have the same or better quality as the river water.

“The facility is designed to essentially have no impact on water quality or quantity, which reflects our company’s belief in the importance of environmental stewardship,” said Rochelle Harding, Director of Sustainability and Engagement for Cerilon.

The Cerilon GTL facility, located near Trenton, will turn natural gas into valuable products such as diesel and naphtha. Some of the plant is expected to be operational in 2029.

Cerilon has also received other permits from Williams County and the North Dakota Public Service Commission.

Construction is expected to start later next year.
