Public to rank name, mascot and colors for Williston Elementary school

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - The Williston Basin School District started the next round of voting to determine the name of the new elementary school.

The public can vote for their top three choices out of a field of 13 potential names and mascots. They also have to decide on school colors out of 17 different options.

Voting is open through Nov. 20. The board will make its final decision on Dec. 2. You can rank the choices here.

The board narrowed down the choices from more than 300 suggestions from a public input survey last month. The most requested name was Sloulin Elementary, with 112 entries. Williston Elementary was second with 15.

The new school is scheduled to open in 2026.
