About 90 percent of turf laid out for Williston State baseball field
WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - Williston State College President Bernell Hirning said they are nearing a milestone for their turf field project.
Hirning told Williams County Commissioners this week that about 90% of the turf has been laid out for the baseball field. He said this includes the infield, which is colored to look like dirt. Hirning said this field will be available not just for the college, but for other teams across northwest North Dakota.
“As the high school teams need to play there in the spring, teams from Tioga, Stanley, Crosby or Watford City. If they need an extra field to play on, that’s what we’re here for. This is truly a regional complex,” said Hirning.
Hirning said the baseball field will have new lighting, stands and a press box added. He said they are going to get as much done as possible before winter arrives.
The turf and other cosmetic upgrades will also be coming to the nearby softball field at a later date.
