WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - A Williston man was charged with fleeing a peace officer and reckless endangerment following a hit and run on Sunday.

Police said they witnessed Jared Bobbitt performing a U-Turn at 1 a.m., striking a pedestrian. The officer at the scene noted the vehicle had its passenger door open and headlamps off.

The individual was identified as Bobbitt’s girlfriend, who had scrapes to her shoulder and elbow.

Police pursued Bobbitt who was driving at a high rate of speed and avoided stop signs. Eventually, Bobbitt fled on foot and was caught by police.

Court documents indicate Bobbitt told police he was trying to flee.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 30.
