BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - For most people, your twenties are a time for self-discovery, making mistakes and learning what you ultimately want to do in life. However, a select few are using their time to create a business with the potential to help the entire community.

When you think of app developers, you probably don’t think of Vaughn Deinhart and Michael Storick in their apartment’s community room. But that’s exactly how Pronto Chore was born.

“Pronto Chore is an independent contracting app, not too dislike an Uber or a DoorDash, but instead of rides or food, we connect people with things they need to get done with students or other young people in the community,” said Deinhart.

It wasn’t a background in math or science that sparked Deinhart’s interest in app development; it was life experience. He was working for Instacart when he thought, ‘There must be a better way.’

“I remember calling a friend of mine, and I was like, ‘Hey, I wonder why there’s not a platform that has more of these chores people need to get done— because everybody’s got them— for people like us to come and do because we’re not expensive,’” said Deinhart.

Michael Storick is the second brain of the operation and the typist behind the app’s code. Deinhart sent out an email to the Dean of Engineering at the University of Mary who forwarded his request to Storick. That was the start of a two-year business endeavor.

“After that, it was off to the races,” said Storick.

Here’s how it works: Job posters will open their version of the app and label the work they need to be done. From there, they select the category and add a description, location and payment method. Job seekers can then open their apps to see the new job listed.

“It’s really satisfying to be able to look at your phone and swipe and scroll and everything’s working how you want it to,” said Storick.

With every tap and line of code, the two come closer to helping people save money or make money depending on their need.

The pair are now in the “in-house testing” phase.

From there, they plan to make some tweaks if necessary, and they have plans to launch the Bismarck-based app this summer.

You’ll be able to download Pronto Chore through Apple’s app store or the Google Play store.
