MINOT, N.D. – A Minot man convicted of murder in the May 2019 shooting death of his father has been sentenced to serve 80 years in prison.

The courts sentenced 31-year-old Christopher Vickerman Tuesday to 100 years, with 20 years suspended. He will have to serve at least 85% of the sentence, or 68 years, before having the chance to apply for parole.

A jury convicted him in December on a AA felony Intentional Murder charge for the shooting death of his father, Mark Vickerman.

Christopher will receive credit for close to three years of time already served. He was also ordered to not have any contact with his mother, Mark Vickerman’s wife, unless she initiates it.

He can appeal the sentence to the North Dakota Supreme Court in the next 30 days.
