Herbology opens as Minot's first medical marijuana dispensary

MINOT, N.D. - Medical marijuana in now in Minot.

Grassroots Cannabis opened their second dispensary in North Dakota with the Herbology location in Minot.

It's the sixth overall dispensary across the state.

Back in the spring of 2017, the North Dakota legislature signed a bill legalizing medical marijuana. Nearly two and a half years later, people with medical marijuana cards are able to buy it in Minot.

“A lot of people need it. It's great. It helps with a lot of people's pain, seizures, anxiety,” said Herbology customer Kat.

The Minot Area Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed the new business to town, and not soon after did customers start coming through the door.

Customer Peggy Kelly said this addition to the Minot community means she no longer has to travel across the state for her medicine.

“I've got rheumatoid arthritis, I've got fibromyalgia, I've got a steel rod from my hip to my ankle and there's times that pain medicine doesn't faze it,” said Kelly.

Those at Herbology say they're excited to bring their knowledge and service to those across the region.

“There's a lot of education that goes in, especially in a new medical cannabis market. That's something that we really specialize in, is providing that consultation and education. But it's very critical for people to have options and to have a nice facility where they can come,” said Herbology COO Matt Darin.

You'll need a medical marijuana card if you want to get into the consultation room, but anyone is invited in the waiting area.

In fact, staff encourage those who are curious about cannabis to come and check the place out for themselves.

Herbology is open five days a week, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
