RUGBY, N.D. (KMOT) — There’s a new North Dakota organization supporting families with infants in the NICU.

Jordyn’s Promise was founded in 2025 and is making an impact statewide.

What started as a hospital stay for the Lutz family has turned into a statewide organization.

“We spent 107 days at the Trinity NICU before she came home,” said Asher Lutz.

Zach and Asher Lutz’s daughter, Jordyn, was born prematurely.

Their experience inspired the creation of Jordyn’s Promise, a nonprofit helping others in the same boat.

“Provide aid, support and guidance to North Dakota NICU families,” said Asher.

Asher said their options for help were limited.

“My daughter does not have a mom, she has two dads, so that kind of fell us in that gray area,” said Asher.

Jordyn also did not have a long-term diagnosis, making her ineligible for other aid programs.

Asher said Jordyn’s Promise is open to anyone in North Dakota, and in some cases, beyond the borders of the Peace Garden State.

“A North Dakota native family, but your baby is in Mayo or in Denver, or wherever that might be, you can still get a package,” said Asher.

Families in need of support can request a care package on the organization’s website.

“Postpartum supplies, bigger size diapers, so when they are out of the NICU, you don’t have to automatically buy a pack of diapers,” said Asher.

A promise to help those with a similar story.
