MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - North Dakota artists have the chance to stay at a state park for free while sharing their work with the public.

The state Parks and Rec Department is offering its annual Artist in Residence program.

The artists will have the opportunity to stay at one of three state parks.

Education and Programming Chief Josh Steffan said a campsite or cabin will be provided.

He added that artists will be required to offer two public programs while in residence, one that’s hands-on and another of their choice.

“We can help showcase how art can fit in with biology or history, and how they complement each other. I think that’s really what we’re trying to get through with this program,” said Josh Steffan.

Applications are due April 24.
