OCHO RIOS, Jamaica (KMOT) - There’s some good news to share about a family of North Dakotans we introduced you to who had to take shelter in Jamaica as Hurricane Melissa approached.

We’re told they’re safe and will be flying out on Friday.

Hillary Rosencrans of Burlington and her family were not able to evacuate the island in time before Melissa hit.

We made contact with Rosencrans on Thursday.

She said they were able to return to their hotel room, and they’re on track to fly back on Friday from the Kingston Airport.

They’ve been without internet, and are running on a generator for power at their hotel in Ocho Rios.
