Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) recipients eligible for cold weather clothing giveaway
BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Recipients of LIHEAP, or the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, are eligible to receive cold-weather gear.
The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services will organize the giveaway next week in eight cities throughout the state. This event started last year, since a warmer winter freed up funds for the giveaway. Coats, mittens, hats and socks will be available.
“This is a little bit more of an incentive to apply for the program, and it helps people stay warm, so it’s kind of a win-win all around,” said Rachel Schafer, director in program administration for the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services.
LIHEAP recipients must register for the event in their nearest city to be eligible. To register, visit communityoptionsnd.com and fill out the Winter Clothing Giveaway form.
