Status of pay for TSA agents at North Dakota airports amid shutdown
MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - It’s day five of the government shutdown.
While North Dakota airport operations remain steady, the impacts are reaching those who work at the airport.
Williston Basin International Airport confirmed with us that their TSA agents are working without pay since the shutdown.
Director Anthony Dudas said TSA workers are exempt from the furlough status.
He said in the past shutdown, their employees received a backpay once the government opened back up again.
But as for now, a backpay this time around is still unclear.
To his knowledge, employees will receive 75% of their paycheck in the upcoming pay period.
“But after that, they will not receive a check. So, we’re monitoring that situation, and we’re working with the local and state TSA individuals to provide any support that we can here locally,” said Dudas.
Leadership with the airports in Bismarck and Minot could not confirm the pay status of their TSA employees, though agents are still working.
