BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The North Dakota Game and Fish has set aside this coming weekend as the state’s Youth and Military Waterfowl Weekend.

Only young hunters ages 15 and under, veterans and active military personnel are able to hunt waterfowl on Sept. 20 and 21.

The goal of this weekend is to show appreciation for military members and increase hunting interest.

“The youth are the future of our hunting sport and our hunting heritage, so we want to provide youth with an opportunity to be able to get out and have a really high-quality waterfowl hunting experience,” said Game and Fish Waterfowl Management and Migratory Game Bird Biologist John Palarski.

The general waterfowl season for residents starts on Sept. 27.
