NEW TOWN, N.D. (KMOT) – A 38-year-old New Town man died after falling out of his kayak on Lake Sakakawea on Friday.
Mountrail County Sheriff Corey Bristol says they received a call around 7 p.m. Friday of someone needing help on the water. A woman reported that a man fell out of his kayak just south of the Four Bears Bridge.
Bristol says crews spotted the man and went out to try to rescue him, but were unable to save him.
The sheriff says the New Town Fire Department located the man’s body Saturday morning, and divers retrieved the body that afternoon.
