Cleanup continues at site of train derailment near Churchs Ferry

CHURCHS FERRY, N.D. (KMOT) – Eleven grain cars of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train derailed last Wednesday north of Churchs Ferry. A spokesperson for the railroad said the derailment occurred around 7:40 a.m.

The spokesperson said as of Monday, five of the 11 cars are upright, and crews remain on site working to clear the incident.

No one was hurt, and there is no threat to the public, according to BNSF.

The company said it hopes to return to operations on the main track this week.
