BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - No goaltender in the NAHL has more wins this year than Bobcats netminder Tomas Anderson. Although his year in Bismarck has gone swimmingly, it wasn’t all that long ago when the kid from Stillwater, Minnesota, was playing in The Pas, Manitoba, in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

“It was a last resort. I didn’t have a very fun summer, I got cut from a lot of teams, and my advisor, thankfully, called this team up in Northern Manitoba,” said Anderson.

That team was the Northern Manitoba Blizzard. While there, Anderson learned the difference between high school hockey and juniors.

“You need to prepare every game like it’s the best team in the league,” said Anderson.

During his one season in Manitoba, Anderson backstopped his team to the MJHL semifinals.

“I’ve been through a lot of playoff hockey now, and so heading into the playoffs, I feel super confident, especially with the team in front of me,” said Anderson.

That team in front of him this year is a good one.

“I think we have the best team, I think it’s going to be in franchise history, the best team ever,” said Anderson.

Anderson won 37 games this season, a Bobcats record, and was named team MVP by his teammates. Still, the goaltender remains humble.

“The team out there, I couldn’t do it without them, seriously,” said Anderson.

“I’ve never had such a tight group together. It’s definitely going to be a lifelong memory of this group, and I will stay in touch with a lot of them,” said Anderson.

The Bobcats now prepare for a playoff run as the NAHL’s top seed.
