BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The trade war between the U.S. and Canada is impacting some energy customers in the northern tier, but North Dakotans who receive power from Montana-Dakota Utilities won’t see a significant impact.

MDU spokesperson Mark Hanson said the company does not have any direct contracts purchasing electricity, or natural gas used for electricity, from Canada.

Most of MDU’s natural gas supply comes from U.S. locations, including the Bakken. If tariffs do impact that production, the price changes would be small and within normal price fluctuations.
