Williams County Commissioners approve conditional use permit for new data center

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - Williams County Commissioners voted Tuesday to grant a conditional use permit for a new data center.
The 4-to-1 vote allows Enerfore Digital to move forward in building a 30-megawatt facility about eight miles south of Tioga.
Representatives with the company say their facility operates with a different cooling style compared to the Atlas Power Data Center, which should result in lower noise levels.
Commissioner Beau Anderson was the lone dissenter after asking whether the landowner who lived within a mile of the site had granted permission. The representative said they have not supported or gone against the facility’s location.
The Dry Fork Township and the Williams County Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval for the project last month.
Officials hope to have the facility operational by the end of the year.
