BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The Trump Administration has announced an $8 billion federal program to help farmers handle higher fuel and input costs during harvest season.
This program will send one-time payments to producers for 2026 crop year losses.
In November, the USDA will set payment rates for major crops.
Rates for specialty crops and fisheries will come later, and those producers are asked to email their higher fuel costs to the USDA.
Senator John Hoeven says the new program will help keep farmers afloat while Congress works on a new farm bill and long-term relief from high diesel and fertilizer costs.
