Kicking off Labor Day weekend with a little camping

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Labor Day weekend is finally here! But some people started celebrating a tad early.

Park employees are anticipating a full house for the holiday weekend. In addition to stocking up on traditional camping supplies, staff gathered extra activities and treats for children and visiting families.

Bismarck resident Randy Shuette was among the campers who set up early. He noted that while fuel prices have influenced his travel plans, staying closer to home allows for more quality time with family.

“We’ve got a grandson coming this weekend to stay with us, and we’ll have friends right over in the next spot!” Shuette said.

Due to unseasonably dry conditions, park employees are urging all visitors to exercise extreme caution when starting and managing campfires over the holiday weekend.
