MANDAN, N.D. (KUMV) - A proposed wind farm could be coming to Morton County.

The North Dakota Public Service Commission said it deemed an application for the Longspur Wind Farm complete on Wednesday. That means the commission will begin researching and asking for more details related to the project.

The wind farm is being built by Minnesota Power and will feature up to 45 turbines generating more than 200 megawatts of power. They’ll be located north of Glen Ulin along State Highway 49.

According to the company, it already has a special use permit from the Morton County Commission.

Along with the windfarm, Minnesota Power is also seeking a permit to build a transmission line connecting the project to a substation in Mercer County.

Commissioner Jill Kringstad said a notice will be sent out in the future when a public hearing is scheduled.
