BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Caring for someone and becoming responsible for their needs can be a challenge. That is why the Bismarck Cancer Center is trying to lighten the load for its patients’ caregivers.

The center plans to create a caregiver support corner as part of its caregiver support program. This corner will provide snacks, entertainment and support from staff members and fellow caregivers.

“The Bismarck Cancer Center really strongly believes in supporting and assisting the patient. But also, we find it really important to support the caregiver as well, so I think in looking at that, we tried to develop a program that would support the caregiver just as much as the patient,” said Jennifer Matt, reach coordinator at the Bismarck Cancer Center.

They started the program this past week by handing out goodie bags.
