MANDAN, N.D. (KFYR) - Dakota Farms in Mandan is being torn down to make room for a new AutoZone.

The restaurant, which specialized in serving breakfast foods, was a staple in the community for nearly 50 years. Management announced on Dakota Farms' Facebook page in August of 2023 that they weren’t able to renew their lease.

Deconstruction started on the morning of Oct. 31.

“Today, we’re just demo-ing out the old restaurant that was here. AutoZone bought the property, and by next spring, we’ll have the new building up,” said David Engstrom, the construction crew’s superintendent.

The other Dakota Farms locations in Washburn, Williston and Rugby are still open.
