Senator Hoeven addresses North Dakota livestock producers
BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Saturday afternoon, North Dakota Republican Senator John Hoeven addressed key priorities for livestock producers at the annual Independent Beef Association of North Dakota meeting (I-BAND).
At the Radisson hotel in Bismarck, local producers could express issues and concerns. Crop and livestock insurance, the Farm Bill and beef labeling were some of the key topics.
“To me, it’s just, making sure that the consumer understands when they go into the supermarket, whether they’re getting a U.S. product or not, whether they’re getting beef from our ranches, or whether it also includes getting beef from Canada and Mexico, right? And I think that does make a difference,” said Senator Hoeven.
Senator Hoeven said as part of the Senate Farm Bill, he is also working to prevent prairie dog colonies from expanding and enhancing risk management tools and disaster assistance for ranches including the Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP) and Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm Raised Fish Program (ELAP).
