Man identified in fatal grain bin accident in Devils Lake
Enrique Perez died Jan. 14 after becoming trapped in a grain bin.
RAMSEY COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A 34-year-old Leeds man, Enrique Perez, died Jan. 14 after becoming trapped in a grain bin at the CHS elevator located at 3919 14th Street West in Ramsey County.
Emergency personnel found Perez engulfed in a grain pit full of corn. Despite extensive rescue efforts, including corn removal and specialized extraction procedures, Perez was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates the incident was accidental, and no foul play is suspected. Authorities determined that Perez was not wearing the proper safety harness when he entered the grain pit.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office reminds all agricultural workers to adhere to grain bin safety protocols and always use appropriate safety equipment.
