A Minot-based national guard company that disabled hundreds of explosives during the war in Iraq received one of the nation's top honors Saturday.

The United Auto Workers union plans to strike against General Motors after the two could not come to a deal before the deadline. The strike could cost General Motors hundreds of millions of dollars and is the first national UAW strike in a dozen years.
The ban would go into affect as soon as the state's health council votes to approve the measure and would start being enforced in as soon as two weeks.
Duluth police arrested Matthew Amiot, 36, on Friday, but said at this time they have “no reason to believe” the fire was a hate crime.

Police in Georgia arrested Edawn Louis Coughman for allegedly staging the crime to make an insurance claim and sell off the undamaged appliances.
