ND State Track Meet Day 1 Results

By  |

No record is safe at the state track and field meet. At least two were broken today on the first day of competition.

One of those was in the boys Class B 1600. Shiloh Christian's Elliot Stone set a new Class B state record, running the mile in 4:18.05.

"It's amazing. I wanted to really have a good senior year this year, I worked a lot for it in the off season," Stone said. "It's really fun for me to go out on a good note. It's been a fun four years and it's a good way to end it."

The other final event on the track today was the 4x800 relay. The Century girls won in Class A, setting a new overall state record in the process.

"All week we've talked about how we really wanted to break that record, and even if we didn't we just wanted to do our best," said senior Jaiden Schuette, the first leg on the relay. "We all knew that we were capable of getting the record and then we did so it just worked out."

Several state champions were crowned today, including Bismarck High's Jon Tharaldsen, who won the Class A boys discus with a throw of 167-06.

In the boys Class A 4x800 relay, Bismarck High came out on top, finishing in 7:59.75.
