Amateur Baseball in Bismarck

The Bismarck 13s headed to the Twin Cities on Thursday to catch a flight to New York for the Babe Ruth World Series.

They are not the only baseball team in the state still active. The Bismarck Blue Jackets and Bismarck Brewers are playing in the AAA State Amateur Tournament in Jamestown. These teams are made up of athletes 18 years of ago or older.

"The two Bismarck teams that are going are actually they have a great squad. I expect us to make it to into Sunday both teams and possibly play each other to go to the championship game," said Chris Fries, Bismarck Amateur Baseball president.

Some of the younger players have played in state tournaments in the last few years, but the older players are looking forward to the atmosphere it brings along.

"It's going to be exciting, especially the AAA. This is the top level of the state amateur, so any level you're playing at is good baseball, but this AAA level this is really going to be some good baseball that people are going to see from everybody," said Scott Miller, Bismarck Blue Jackets infielder.

The games start Friday and run through Sunday.
