Parents of toddlers in Bismarck and Mandan now have a new place to go to encourage all kinds of development and healthy learning. Northern Plains Dance brought Kindermusik, a nationally celebrated program, back to the area in 2020.
"At the very base of it, it's a music class," Laura Devlin, Studio Administrator and Kindermusik instructor, said. "It's a music class for kids, but it's also so much more than that."
Kindermusik pulls from research to bring families multi-sensory experiences to engage every level of learning a child does. Classes combine singing, dancing, creative play, story time and plenty of movement to help children develop cognition skills, social-emotional wellness and language.
"The classes are not only developmentally appropriate, but they also help and encourage the development of your child to ultimately get them ready for their school days," Devlin said.
Staff with Northern Plains Dance says the program is helping them fulfill their mission of bringing the arts to more people in the community and is building confidence among children.
Kindermusik is now enrolling through Northern Plains Dance, with classes offered for newborns up until age 3.
Devlin hopes they can later expand to the program's full capacity of teaching children up to age 7. To learn more, click here: https://northernplainsdance.org/kindermusik/
