ND Gov. Candidate Nelson Chooses New Rockford Sen. Heckaman as Running Mate

Grand Forks, N.D. (AP) Unless another Democrat enters the race before the June primary, it looks like the Left's gubernatorial ticket is set.

Candidate Rep. Marvin Nelson, D-Rolla, has chosen Sen. Joan Heckaman, D-New Rockford, as his running mate.

Sixty-nine-year-old Heckaman has been a state senator since 2007.
Before that, she was a teacher.

Three Republicans, Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, entrepeneur Doug Burgum and Rep. Rick Becker, R-Bismarck, are running for governor, as well.

None of the Republican candidates have chosen running mates yet.
