First Lutheran in Mandan Hosts Free Thanksgiving Dinner

Sixteen 20 pound turkeys, 180 pounds of potatoes, and gallons of side dishes is a rather large Thanksgiving dinner. At First Lutheran in Mandan it was just enough.

For 32 years AID Inc. has hosted a free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone in the community. The masters in the kitchen started Tuesday to prepare with food donated from Dan's Supermarket. A total of 76 volunteers helped 600 people go home satisfied.

"We heard about it in our church, and we felt like we wanted to help out. So we came and helped's nice to help out people," said Ella Kohler, volunteer.

Laughter filled the hall of the church this Thanksgiving and everyone left fulfilled.
